June 25 the conditions aligned with a straight west wind of 12-20 kts and I was able to ride on the Detroit River in Windsor beside the Casino with the Detroit skyline in the background. This is a great spot to ride with a strong current that opposes the wind causing nice waves in the middle of the river when a west wind blows down the length of this section of the river. In the 90’s while at the University of Windsor I windsurfed this stretch of the river dozens of times but have only kited it a few times back in 2001 when I returned to the area from Victoria, BC.
